Consortium Members

Compagnie Industrielle de la Matière Végétale (CIMV) is a French SME created in 1998 that has been working for over 10 years in the domain of lignocellulosic biorefinery.

CIMV has developed original technologies to separate the three main components of the biomass (cellulose, lignin and hemicelluloses) in an environmentally friendly way. Various processes have been developed by CIMV to valorize a vast range of renewable biological materials amongst which biolignin (phenolic polymers) is one of the most relevant.

CIMV’s products are targeted at substituting commodities of fossil origin by developing innovative alternatives for classical chemistry.

Role in the project

Participation in:

  • The development of an efficient and ecologic process for the extraction of silica from wheat straw.
  • The extraction of the two major fractions of wheat straw, namely cellulose and lignin.
  • The integration of the new silica extraction method in the complete lignocellulosic biorefinery process developed by CIMV.
